As part of a major product offensive, Linde Material Handling is renewing and expanding its range of picking applications to become the most extensive product portfolio in the industry. Eight new models of the Linde N20 C low-lift order picker are the first to enter the market. They ensure convenient, safe and above all cost-effective order picking in the payload range from 1.2 to 2.5 tons.

No matter whether it’s a DIY store or a food wholesaler, the automotive industry or contract logistics: order picking is one of the core tasks in every warehouse. At the same time, these are expensive due to the high proportion of manual activities. Linde Material Handling has therefore placed particular emphasis on user support in the development of new vehicles: Even in the standard version, the devices, which can reach speeds of up to 14 km/h, offer a high level of operating convenience, which can be further extended by additional options depending on the application requirements.

We can clearly say that the requirements have risen steadily in recent years. Shorter delivery times have to be met as well as seasonal peaks – for example in the Christmas business – or rising wage costs. Picking rates and throughput times are to be increased, error rates reduced and health-related absences of employees avoided. “With the various variants of the new order picker, our customers can keep their logistics expenses under control in classic man-to-goods applications and increase the efficiency of their warehouse,” sums up EloïseLévêque, International Product Manager at Linde Material Handling.

Improved ergonomics for smoother processes

Linde Material Handling is following the uniform market design for the N20 C with the arrangement of battery, driver’s platform and load-carrying module, which is particularly advantageous for operators of mixed fleets: employees do not have to adjust their thinking when switching back and forth between vehicles from different manufacturers. The low height of only 130 millimeters and generous vehicle access (428 or 418 millimeters depending on the model) make it easier to enter and leave the driver’s platform frequently during daily order picking.

The ergonomically positioned grips ensure a secure hold – even when reversing. An air-suspended driver’s platform is available as an option. It reduces the operator’s shocks and vibrations when driving on uneven terrain. The standard cushioned backrest can be optionally adjusted to suit the operator’s height. It ensures a safe and stable driving position. A fold-out driver’s seat (with sensor for driver recognition) is also integrated for longer journeys or waiting times. The optionally available padded knee protection provides additional comfort while seated.

Everything at a glance

A new height-adjustable steering wheel is used to operate the Linde N20 C – a highlight of the new generation of industrial trucks. Forward and reverse gear switches are integrated into the round shape and have a special rubberized surface for optimum grip. They can be operated on both sides with thumb or index finger. The Linde engineers have deliberately placed the multifunctional color display under the steering wheel to ensure a smooth ride. An easy-to-read screen allows the operator to read the most important information relevant to the vehicle – from battery charge status to service instructions.

Secure and connected

The modular fleet management software Linde connect with access control, damage monitoring and usage analysis is also available on board on request.

The picking area is usually busy, which increases the risk of property damage and accidents – and thus the risk of unforeseen costs and breakdowns. The Linde N20 C has a whole range of factory-installed or optionally selectable safety functions to prevent this. What is very important for the operator is an excellent view of the lane and the load. There are also special features such as the hydraulically assisted braking unit – one of a total of three braking systems on board. This system varies the braking effect of the order picker depending on the load being picked up. Depending on the steering angle, Linde Curve Control reduces the travel speed and prevents tipping accidents in curves. A special bumper can be attached to the front of the vehicle to prevent expensive damage to shelves, goods or the equipment itself. Other features such as powerful LED headlights, the Linde BlueSpot, a panoramic front mirror, protective screens or grids for the mast and various load protection devices round off the range.
